The principal goal of the group's research line is synthesised in the "development of a reference architecture for the design and construction of an integrated business system". The architecture is built with a strong orientation towards its practical application in companies, therefore it is supported by real studies on specific companies from different areas.

Among its principal features the following are highlighted. It is based on a view of the company orientated to the business process. It sets the company system life cycle based on a continuous improving process. It uses modelling and simulations as tools to analyse the impact of the decisions. It describes a method to integrate and co-ordinate the consistency of the decision and the operations with the strategy aims.

Within this frame of reference the actual lines of work are centred on:

  • Interoperability and Enterprise integration
  • Business process re-engineering
  • Enterprise sustainability and corporate social responsability
  • Web 2.0 technologies for enterprise management: Social networks, blogs, wikis, etc.
  • Ontologies. Web services and SOA architecture

  • Management information systems: ERP's, CRM, SCM, etc.
  • Decision support systems: Business Intelligence, balanced scorecard
